Plant a seed and watch it grow

Well Spring is officially here. Which is fine...but it is suppose to be summer. Believe me, I'm not complaining. Once the heat gets here...my life gets sucked into a black hole. (Now if you were Taryn, you would think that was pretty exciting!)

My quest to make my neighbors jealous has begun! I have been loving my yard lately. I have purchased a bunch of flowers for my backyard which is going to be gorgeous in a couple of years, when the plants are older! I bought delphinum, coreopsis, and may night salvia. I wish they were already huge! Anyway, I now need to buy some annuals for my flower boxes for the front of my house. I also really want some purple asters, a clematis and a trellis, a bench, and an arbour with a gate, but that will just have to wait.

Happy Camper

Well...it's officially over. My life that is. The waterpark season has begun, and so have my 10 hour days. I was looking at my schedule for the summer and i added up how many hours I HAVE to work a week...59 hours...can we say CRAZY!

Amber and Taryn being chased by a bear!
I like my job (most days), I just really miss getting to have fun during the summer. I miss going swimming, hanging out, road trips, and most of all CAMPING. So I have been thinking of getting a camper so I can go when it is cooler. I know it seems like a lofty idea, but just work with me ok. How saaaaweet would it be? We could just take the camper and not have to worry about bears attacking, or having to take the truck to the nearest campground so we could use the bathroom (that's what happens when dad takes all of his girls camping and we refuse to dig a hole), and we could sleep inside when it was cold or rainy and the munchkin Harper would be toasty warm!

So I am going to start a Happy Camper fund. If you would like to start making contributions to the fund that would be great.

P.S. If we don't get a camper, we could get a cabin...who wants to contribute to that fund? eh....ehh...anybody?

Mom used to make the most beautiful Easter eggs. Then she'd hide them in the back yard. But they were so beautiful, when we found one, we weren't allowed to pick it up. We had to point at it, and then mom would come pick it up with her white gloves and put it back in its case. Somebody ended up smashing all those eggs with a hammer. I think it was our dog. - Jack Handy

Born in the wrong time

Just got back from seeing Water for Elephants and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get my time machine working and travel back to the 1920's and join a traveling circus. Ahhh, it would be so nice to live in a time when romance was still alive. I love watching movies because you can just disappear to another place, even if it's just for a little while.

It's like when my grandma tells me the story of how she and my grandpa met. She had gone to some party with her parents. She was wearing a yellow sweater, and he told he really liked it! Ah, I can just imagine being at a party with your parents and a strappin' young lad saunters over and asks you to dance because he likes your sweater. It's so romantic! Just a sweet story. Now-a-days all you hear about is how a dude walks over and says how he likes your sweater but it would look better laying on his floor. Ha!

That's my Granny in a yellow sweater. I bet my grandpa would like it!

Anyways, I am going to join the circus, and take care of the elephants with a guy just like Joseph. If that doesn't work out I will join the freak show and be the fat lady in training! Waaa...waaaa...waaaa.

Things that make me smile

Sometimes when I have a crappy day, I just like to look at some of the pictures I have taken. These are the ones that made me smile...
Can we go back?

Is it Spring yet?

The incredible eight legged dog!

He normally tucks his tail in his shorts, but today he let it all hang out!

Rice crispy treats and fruit salad...yes please!

Hanging out watching the birds.

A Valentine from my guy Jack.

Another cherished weekend

It won't be long before my weekends disappear and the water park opens for another season. I hate how my life gets sucked away during the summer. So, for now, I have been trying to spend my weekends having fun.

Friday night, we had an impromptu BBQ at my house in celebration of the Spring weather. It was a beautiful day and we got to eat out on the patio. We had hamburgers, fruit salad, and chips. Taryn made an Oreo dessert and there was also pecan pie! Yum! On Saturday, I had to go to work at 12 and un-arm the park (we are open on the weekends for people to buy passes). Then I went over to Justin and Amber's to hang out. I played with Harper and watched t.v. for a while. Then I went home and started organizing my bedroom. I cleaned out all my drawers and my closet, organized everything and got rid of stuff that doesn't fit or that I don't wear.

Today I got to spend the day with the ever darling Harper Blair. She has to be the cutest thing ever. We went to Target and I found the Tickle Me Elmo that I wanted to get her for Christmas, some bubbles, a ball, and a pinwheel. She and Jack loved watching the bubbles, and they both wanted to chew on the pinwheel. She also cracked up when the Elmo rolled on the floor laughing. When I had it turned off, she would crawl over to Elmo and give it kisses and bite it's nose.

I can't believe how big she is getting. It's crazy to think that at this time last year, she wasn't even born! I'm excited to watch her grow up. It's so much fun watching her learn. When Justin and Amber brought her over today, Justin sang pat-a-cake, and she started clapping her hands! She waves goodbye, and also raises her hands when you ask her how big she is, "So big!"

On a side note....maybe they read my post, because I didn't call them, but PRISON BREAK IS BACK! I was super excited when I saw Prison break back in my instant que from Netflix.

Date nights with Wentworth shall continue! Ha!

Off with a Warning!

I don't know why I have such good luck with cops, but I am thankful for it. I got pulled over in the construction zone on Ten Mile for going 37 in a 25. Yikes! As soon as I saw the cop car, I knew I was going to get pulled over, and sure enough I did. I though for sure I would get a ticket, I mean 37 in a 25 construction zone, duh! But the officer came back and said he was just going to let me off with a warning. Hallelujah! Don't ask me how I got so lucky....it must be my good looks ;-)

They stole my boyfriend!

It's never a good thing when you find out they have taken someone near and dear to your heart.

Especially when you just met and have been seeing each other every night for the last week. Just when you thought you had something going. I mean, really how often does this actually happen?

It breaks my heart. Now what am I suppose to do with all my time. I can't stare into his eyes. Or get all giddy when he gives me that cute little smirk.

I also really didn't care that he was in prison...

I am going to voice my complaint to Netflix and tell, no DEMAND that they put Prison Break back on the instant viewer!

Now I am actually going to have to be committed to Wentworth, and get the dang dvds.

Ehhh, it should be OK cause he's very dreamy!!!

Is that the sun?

Stop what you are doing and look outside....it's the SUN! It is the most beautiful day today. It's about 65 degrees and just gorgeous outside. It was torture to sit inside at the waterpark today. I hope we actually get to have a a Spring this year and not just a bunch of rain and then blazing heat. I'm really excited to plant flowers this year. I want a bunch of flowers in my yard. I just want to be able to come home from work and see a beautiful display in my yard...that and I want my stinkin' neighbors to be jealous. So, I think tomorrow I am going to go to Lowes and get some fertilizer for the yard, bird seed (so Jack will be entertained), and start looking at the flowers!

How long does it take you to watch a movie?

Have you ever tried to watch a movie but are interrupted about every fifteen minutes....by the dog puking, the phone ringing, having to take the dog outside to go to the bathroom, someone having to go to the bathroom, the phone ringing again.....

We started watching this movie at 7pm, it is now 9pm. If we are lucky, we might be able to finish this movie by midnight. Wish me luck.

Just Call Me Zeus

Jack got the shock of his life when I got home from work today. Literally...a huge shock. When I reached down to give him a good head scratch...SNAP! It was like a bolt of lightening came right out of my finger. The poor guy....i felt it in my hand, I can't imagine what his poor head feels like.

Unplanned Bliss

This was probably the best weekend I've had in a while.

Nothing was on the agenda....which is why on Friday I was in a really crappy mood. Somehow my crazy family must have known because Friday night Amber, Taryn, Justin, Harper, and my mom showed up at my house and we had some delicious Fiesta Guadalajara and a Wii dance party. Then on Saturday, I did a little thrift store browsing, had Taryn and my mom over for roasted chicken, and watched Dinner for Schmucks. Today, Taryn and I went out to lunch, did a little birthday party shopping(Taryn is turning 18), hung out with Amber, Justin, and Harper(it is impossible to be in a bad mood when this kid is around), and then went and saw Unknown with Nick and Jordan. Nothing too eventful, but nothing was planned either. I love it when you have nothing planned, and it ends up being exactly what you needed.

Also...I love my family!

Channeling Martha

So I finally decided to work on the quilt I've been wanting to make since Christmas. I got the fabric around Christmas time, and just never really got started. Amber got me into sewing, and I actually bought a sewing machine on Black Friday. I've been wanting to make a quilt ever since. Now don't think the sewing machine has just been gathering dust in a closet somewhere (OK it's been gathering dust, but that is just because I have horrible house keeping skills...cue Martha :-) I have actually put it to use hemming my mom's jeans, made a cat toy for Jack, made rice bags for gifts(the best ache reliever), and made Christmas ornaments.

Amber has made so many cool things, and she is my crafty inspiration. Here is my Niece Harper's room. Amber pretty much made everything (when I say made i mean sewed the charming bedding, painted and coordinated, and just made everything look this ADORABLE!)

PS. I fashioned the bird mobile hanging above the crib!

Amber is really good at taking found objects and transforming them into something you would actually put in your home. I wish she would share a little bit of her talent and help me decorate my house!

OK, so here is the test block I did, you can see what the fabric looks like. It's going to be a pretty simple quilt, seeing as it's my first. So keep your fingers crossed that I don't totally screw it up!

What to do...

So after much convincing from my little sister, I've decided to start a blog. I'm not sure what I will write about, just my day to day comings and goings. I guess that is what it is all about...just discovering yourself through the simple steps of writing. I can't promise that this will be entertaining or even worth your time, but here we go!
